Pies and Puppies

My sister-in-law bought us a Babycakes Cupcake maker....it can make mini-pies as well as muffins and cupcakes. Yum!

As for Allie, she is wonderful. Still doesn't have CLUE that you poop outside, not under the table and pee outside, not on the kitchen rug. Maybe if she actually LIKED going outside it would help. I fear she hates the cold. And I hear Frenchies hate the heat. I guess she won't be coming out the house much! We took a trip to the vet today. She, of course, wore her kilt and sweater and was a huge hit. Although she lost a little bit of weight, she is healthy and worm-free. Isn't that what every mother wants to hear about their child's poop??

Christmas 2010

We had a wonderful holiday and are quite sad to see it end. The puppy surprise worked out perfectly! Mom picked up the dog in Buffalo 2 weeks ago (she came from Chitawee French Bulldogs in Missouri) and then took her to Canada a few days before Christmas. The next door neighbors took care of her from the time we arrived until Christmas Eve when we hid her in the basement. I was so frickin' excited I couldn't sleep...here is her reaction on Christmas morning:

Elisabeth named her Allie, after one of her favorite characters on a tv show. Not until after the name was decided did we realize that we now have Blake (our Brussels Griffon) and Allie (the new puppy)....as well as UNCLE Blake and AUNT Ali (my brother and sister-in-law). We took a picture of the 4 of them together:)

Isabella with the $1,000.00 dogs...

After picking Blake up at the vets, where he got his teeth cleaned (aka MAJOR trauma), Isabella decided to have a rest on the dog bed with him AND the 2 cremated dogs in their boxes. Isn't she cute?? When you add up all we have spent in the last 2 weeks on these 3 dogs, it is more than $1,000.00. Merry Christmas to me!

Wrapping things up

I am happy to say...my shopping is done, everything is wrapped and in its specified place. Todd's family's gifts are bagged and ready for him to take on the plane the day after Christmas, Shane/Aaron/Rebekah/Liam/Lucy's gifts are in CO, and our gifts are under the tree at the lake house in Canada. Not bad, huh? I am super organized when it comes to getting ready for Christmas. I HATE not being ready. Want to know something else?? The tree and decorations are DOWN already in our house! They went up before Thanksgiving and I detest coming home to them when Christmas is said and done. Plus, we got new furniture and I wanted to arrange it all without the tree in the way:)

Gymnastics....

Twice a year, parents get to cram in the little room where the preschoolers take their gymnastics class. Not only does it stink like nasty-ass feet, but you constantly have to move so you don't get a size 9 foot planted in your face. Oh, what we do for our kids:)

But life goes on...

The day we had to put the dogs to sleep was horrible. Much worse than I ever imagined. We couldn't stop crying and felt so horrible for making the decision we did. This was quite surprising to me seeing that I joked for many years about them running away or worse. I can't say I was the best dog mama but having to hold them during their last few minutes was so sad :( Now....the flip side of that: NO MORE PUDDLES!!! No more walking in pee and getting the bottom of my pj's wet, no more garbage FILLED with soaking wet paper towels, no more maxi pads filled with pee (for Thomas' diaper), no more stinky kitchen, no more dried pee spots where I forgot to look to see if there had been pee.....I miss them so much but I don't miss that!!! Blake, our Brussels Griffon, thinks HE died and went to heaven. The gates are down and he is allowed to roam where ever he wants. Life is good.

Goodbyes are so hard

A Dog's Plea
If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep
Then you must do what must be done
For this, the last battle, can't be won.
You will be sad- I understand
Don't let your grief then stay your hand
For this day, more than all the rest
Your love and friendship stand the test.
We've had so many happy years
What is to come can hold no fears
You'd not want me to suffer, so
When the time comes, please let me go.
I know in time you too will see
It is a kindness you do to me
Although my tail, it's last has waved
From pain and suffering I've been saved.
Don't grieve that it should be you
Who has decided this thing to do
We've been so close, we two these years
Don't let your heart hold any tears.
