I worried all night that something would happen to Rebekah and Bruce on their way to Lang Son or that they wouldn't be able to see or find the birth parents for some reason. Because of that and having to sleep next to a coughing, grumpy, cover-steeling, foot kicking, nose dripping toddler, I didn't get much rest at all. I flipped my computer on first thing and found an email message from Rebekah saying:
Hey,
I just tried to Skype you but it keeps saying unable to connect. Call me when you wake up.
I will only give you information if you do one thing for me..............
Start saving for a trip back to Vietnam. You get one picture at a time for every $200 you put in your "Vietnam Trip" savings account.
I told the girls at the desk to expect your call and I think they all speak English.
Talk to you soon.
R.
I didn't even brush my teeth I was so damn excited. I called the hotel and was instantly connected to her:) The trip was wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. It turned out better than could have been expected. My heart is happy. Rebekah was able to meet the birth dad and mom, 2 of Bella's siblings, some great aunts and uncles, and a few people from the village. She got many of my questions answered, saw where they lived and how they lived, and felt very loved by them. They were overjoyed to re-connect with the family the only knew for 2 hours and wanted to know all about Isabella or Yen Nhi, as they call her.
I will be eternally grateful to R and B for taking the risks they did and for taking the time to make this trip....it means the world to all of us who love Isabella:) I sure lucked out when God was handing out sisters.
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat news! What a life experience for both families. Will you be able to keep in contact with the family, or is this a one time communication.
ReplyDeleteI did my best Catherine. Glad you like her. As you know, sisters are not returnable.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!! That is so cool for you guys.
